Meet your neighbors

Don't you agree that the older generation knows how to truly be thrifty.  One neighbor had these really cool skeletons hanging from her trees.  We went closer to find they're a simple pattern made out of milk jugs.  How cool is that!  The kids were excited when I suggested we go over to find out how she made them.  She was thrilled to hand over her ancient McCall's pattern (or was it Simplicity?) and opened her garage and handed over a hook (made out of an old wire hanger) hanging up a bunch of old milk jugs.  We had enough to go home (7 jugs) and used the next day of school to make our project.  The kids were almost ready to skip carving pumpkins that night because they were so excited about this project.  Izzy said, "Today is going to be the best day ever."
I had the kids do a lot of the work.  Andrew and Izzy traced their patterns onto paper, cut them out and I helped apply to the milk jugs.  Izzy's so cute and wanted to trace to the jugs too.  I helped cut out the jugs, but was amazed at how much they were up to the challenge.  They did a great job and a whole lot of work.
Since this was our replacement for all school activities for the day, Andrew still got his handwriting practice in by writing our neighbor a thank you letter.  What a fun day!
