Jamie was looking through a Timberdoodle catalog yesterday and found a fairly good definition of a Eurogame:"What makes a game a Eurogame? There are many characteristics, but we look for ones that have lots of strategy and very little randomness or chance...players are never eliminated from the game so all players are still involved when the game ends."
The wikipedia entry is particularly good.
Jamie and I have always enjoyed gaming. When we were in college we used to play Cribbage all the time. We even played while waiting for Andrew to be born (loved that epidural). We also played a lot of Risk and Trivial Pursuit.

We were first introduced to Eurogames when we were stationed at Scott AFB. Our first taste was Settlers of Catan. Since then we've branched out and tried multiple games and have even started our own little collection. One of the best sites to learn about games is www.boardgamegeek.com. Our current favorites include Settlers, Ticket to Ride and Ra.

We're always looking for people that are interested in playing so if you're in the area and want to try out a new game, just stop by or give us a call!

We have been sooo blessed to have a couple in our ward who we get together every week and have a geek board game night. Some of our new favorites are Kingsburg, Carcassane(sp) , and Alhambra. Try them...I think you will like them. Wish you all were in Florida..we could turn our foursome geek group into a sixer!!
P.S We love settlers and Ticket to ride also. Oh just thought of another more complicated game but I think you would like also..it is called Agricula.
settlers of cataan is my favorite!!!
Geek board game night... what a great idea. Now if we can just get people together... and Dane have a night off.
Need I comment or are we already on the list of game-playing buddies?
