Trip to Provo

I finally hit a breaking point and said "Time to take a break from Vegas." So I called up Glen's brother and asked if we could crash w/ their family for a bit. They have 3 kids ranging from 4 yrs.- 6 mths and the kids have so much fun together. Yes they're moving right after Thanksgiving and in the middle of packing, not to mention it's a small 3-bedroom apt., but I thought, "Hey I'll have someone to help w/the cooking, doing the dishes, giving the baths, cleaning the house, etc. etc. It'll be a good break from being the single parent." I have no idea how single parents do it. A few days later we were packed and ready to go. We would've gone sooner, but their family had dr. appts. and my kids were looking forward to Haloween.

We got there Thurs. evening and stayed til Wed. morning. It was a bit chaotic at times, but we had some good spontaneous and some semi-planned outings. Plus my perspective of going home was improved which was what I truly needed. It would only be 4 kids again instead of 7.=) Just a few more months and I can do this. I got my breakdowns out of the way and made it back to survival mode. Thanks for the 'break' Dane and Jenn. It turned out to be exactly what I needed.=)

Sunday after church, my kids and I went for a spur of the moment drive around Provo. It was so much fun to see where Glen and I used to live. (That little shack is now a parking lot ... it needed to be a parking lot, but still sad to see that it's no longer standing. Lots of fun memories there. We always say it was good for us to start at the bottom and work our way up.=) Then seeing different buildings around town brought back so many memories. And the chirping crosswalks. I'd forgotten all about those.=) It was hard cuz I was really wishing Glen was there to share in the walk down memory lane. I was just glad I had someone (my kids) to share it with.

First we tried to find the path to the Y mountain parking lot. No luck, but found the temple and the MTC. We pulled over for a bit and looked at the temple. Then the kids needed to use the restroom so we drove back to Jenn and Dane's house to take a break and pick up a loaf of bread to go to a special park; I'd noticed the botany pond on the way home and knew that would be the perfect place to come back. It was perfect. The kids had so much feeding the ducks.

After feeding the ducks, we followed the path around the park. It was amazing how many fun things there were to do on this little path. First, we found this huge pile of leaves. I just sat and watched the 3 of them play. It's so much fun to watch kids play. It was almost like I was playing in the leaves with them. Very relaxing and fun.
