Math Placement

Glen and his dad both swear by Saxon Math so that's what I've been trying to go with.  Someone was selling the K-2nd grade teacher manuals and student books plus the manipulatives at a fraction of the cost so was thrilled that I'd once again found a great deal on home schooling supplies.  But every time I tried to be organized and follow the books, I'd find my kids were bored to tears and knew everything we were discussing so we gave up.  I had no idea how to figure out what part of the book I should start with so we've been supplementing w/ workbooks just to say yes, we have been doing some math.  On one of my favorite home school supply sites, I saw Saxon Math Placement Tests and finally printed it off this morning to assess where Andrew should be.  I found out we'd been a few grades behind; no wonder he was so bored.  Now we know where to begin and wanted to share.  Download the test for free at

It looks like you are doing a great job with teaching your kids. Those nature walks look like the coolest! Great job mom!
