This year we've been scrimping our pennies, (saving up for a house) so we bought a cow. An added bonus is that Glen's dad knows how to butcher meat so we got us a GREAT deal. We each got half the cow and spent a nice long day packaging our meat. Never done something like this before so I'm journaling our experience. Don't worry, there aren't any cow organ pictures in this post, but if you're not interested in seeing raw meat, don't scroll down.=)
Glen's dad turned the garage into our meat processing plant.
Making hamburger. This hamburger is soooo good. I wasn't sure if it would be fatty and greasy, but it's just right.
Calvin was the only one that really came out and visited. The other kids enjoyed a whole day of video games and movies. With those kind of options, who wants to watch meat being cut up.
After the cutting, there's the wrapping.

What kind of grinder did you guys use? I love this!!
I'm super impressed that you can handle that much raw meat pregnant! Way to go! Feels good having meat in the freezer.
Awesome! Gives a whole new meaning to a 7 cow woman, ha ha ha =o) I'm going to ask for a cow for Christmas, but I'm afraid board games and sweaters will prevail!
