Everyone is a child of God

We've all heard this phrase before and if you attend the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, you've sung this song since you were 2. And hopefully we all know it's true.=) Anyways, I've always associated it with myself that "I" am a child of God (emphasis on the me part) which is very important of course. Lately I've been struggling with parenting (I have 4 kids so I'm always struggling with parenting just like all parents do.=) Last night at our church's women's conference, one of the speakers made the statement that "everyone is a child of God." Now I've heard it before and I know it's true, but this time it was the most perfect statement to assist in my parenting. I couldn't tell you what else she was even talking about or what context she was using it in. It was just an answer to my prayers.

This morning we sat at the breakfast table and I shared with my kids my impressions from last night and asked what they thought. They agreed that everyone is a child of God. They agreed that Heavenly Father wants all of his children treated nicely and respectfully. So from now on, if any of us sees any of us treating someone unlike how they ought to be treated, we're going to try saying, "Remember, everyone is a child of God." Their quick response is supposed to be "Sorry so and so. I love you." They loved it and even wanted to role play. Boy, we just had too much fun. I'm optimistic that this will help some of the arguing and fighting that's been driving me crazy lately.=)
