Alex turns 2

Dec. 19th and my little Alex turned 2.  Where does the time go?  I've been following the Body for Life diet (I hate calling it a diet cuz it's plenty of food.  I've lost 25 lbs., but that's also due to having a baby and the baby fat that usually goes away soon after.  But I'm feeling good and getting my figure back ... w/ a goal to go further and get a better figure.=)  I think my new motto is "Most days are better than others.")  Anyways, since I'm following this diet, I didn't want a cake sitting around tempting me so I decided a chocolate pudding pie would be great.  Fat free, sugar free pudding, w/ a reduced fat crust, light whipped topping and then Alex was pointing at marshmallows at the store so I gave in.  I don't remember her ever having marshmallows (other than the kind in Lucky Charms) before but I figured, "birthday girl?  Why not?"  After getting the pie made and then piling on the whipped cream, somehow I got creative w/ the marshmallows.  Then I found some single serve hot fudge packets that someone who moved passed on.  I wasn't planning on being creative, but the kids loved how the "cake" turned out.  I was surprised they didn't like it.  I think they only ate the whipped topping, and I don't think Alex even ate that.  They didn't care and just went back to playing w/ Alex's new toys.

As for toys, it was really hard to figure out what to get for her.  Her older brother and sister have plenty of toys to play with and she's gotten plenty of pass-downs and then some.  What else could she possibly need?  So I settled on a Little People farm that makes animal sounds since she's starting to learn those.  When she opened the gift, she said, "Mine?" with an expression that said, "This is mine?  All mine?  I don't have to share?"  It was priceless.

Bad part of this story is that since then, the terrible two's have begun.  Everything is "mine" or "NO" and the tantrums have increased.  Has she learned some of these actions from her sweet older sister?  ... Glen I need you home, NOW!!!

Cute birthday pie, Jamie. Can you blame the kids for not liking fat free sugar free (taste free) chocolate pudding? =)
